Babies go through food phases so fast that it’s hard to keep up. One week Anna loves broccoli, the next week she won’t eat it. Then she won’t eat cucumbers and now she eats them all of the time. It even happened with sweet potatoes. She used to love them when she was 7, 8 , 9, 10 months and then she refused to eat them until recently when I made sweet potato fries. I think development is to blame for there constant change in taste, but it’s exhausting.

If you are looking for a few new things to try with your toddler, here are a few that Anna is loving now.

Quiche.

Cage-free eggs with veggies and low fat cottage cheese. I LOVE making her quiche because you can sneak in lots of veggies and you can easily reheat the leftovers. It’s also easy to transport to a friends for dinner or to your child’s child care for lunch. And at this age, she can eat it all by herself.

Tabouli or Greek Couscous salad with hummus mixed in.

This is not as simple to eat or to deal with. It makes a mess but she loves the little textures of the couscous. I think this is a good meal to eat as a family because it’s nice to make things that everyone eats together – and she could use a little help keeping the couscous on the spoon.

White fish or salmon.

Usually she likes any fresh fish for at least a couple of bites. Some of her current favorite marinades are cumin lime (shown below) and Soyaki from Trader Joe’s.

Pasta or “Noonels” as we call them.

With shrimp, chicpeas or artichokes or like mac and cheese – really any type of noodle is acceptable with her.

I am sure that since I just posted this little list, Anna will immediately lose interest in all of the above foods. Guess that will make for a new list next week!
