For my Nature’s Pride recipe I decided to use one of the most delicious and healthy fruits of Fall, apples! (I was given a Nature’s Pride coupon for the bread through Foodbuzz.)

I started with a simple, local apple.

I peeled it and chopped it.

And tossed it into a bowl with a little stevia and a cinnamon.

While that was sitting, I got started on my bread. I chose Nature’s Pride 12 grain, but any variety would do.

Then I started rolling each piece of bread to flatten it out.

And I pressed my cookie cutter through the bread to make a circle. I then cut the circle in half and placed it in a muffin tin, to make a little cup.

Then I filled each cup with the apples. I topped each “blossom” a mixture of oats, almonds, a few sprays of butter and some brown sugar.

Baked at 425 for about 15 minutes, until they turned golden brown and the bread crust got a little cruncyh like toast.

And we dug in! We were missing some vanilla bean ice cream…next time.

Nature’s Pride Apple Blossoms

makes 6 blossoms

  • 6 pieces of Nature’s Pride bread
  • cooking spray
  • 4 large local apples
  • cinnamon
  • stevia
  • 1/2 c. oats
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 T. melted butter or spray butter
  • 1/8 c. toasted, sliced almonds
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Lightly spray 6 standard muffin cups with cooking spray.
  3. Using a rolling pin, flatten bread slices slightly and, with a circle ookie cutter, cut into 6 pieces of bread.
  4. Cut each circle in half, then press 2 halves into each muffin cup,
  5. If you need to overlap the pieces make sure there are no gaps, do so. Also, use extra bread to cover any gaps.
  6. Spray with a light layer of cooking spray, spray butter or butter if you’d like.
  7. Peel and dice your apples into a bowl.
  8. Sprinkle with stevia and cinnamon (to your taste).
  9. Scoop apples into toast blossoms until they are even with the top of the bread, not over flowing. You want room for the topping.
  10. Make the topping by mixing oats, brown sugar, almonds and butter.
  11. Top each blossom with a generous amount of topping.
  12. Bake at 425 for about 10-15 minutes.
  13. Serve with vanilla ice cream and ENJOY!

This is a healthy dessert or snack that can be made any time!
