United Cakes of America at Amazon
Publisher: Stewart, Tabori & Chang (2010)
What a fun and interesting book! This is like a tour of the USA through cake. It is filled with wonderful pictures, fun facts about the cakes and the states and tons of great recipes. You can find the ins and outs of baking delicious cakes while learning a little too!
Ratings:
Presentation of book: A+ (hard cover, interesting cover, lots of great photographs, fun set up using the US map)
Difficulty of recipes: B- (I am going to give this an average grade because some cakes are a lot more difficult than others)
Healthy: D+ (health was not the focus of this book – it is a book of cakes!!!)
Vegetarian/ Gluten Free: F (most cake recipes call for eggs and flour – If you were trying to make them GF or Veg. than I would proceed with making changes at your own risk!)
Entertaining: A (all of these cakes would be so much fun to serve or plan a party around!! You could make a meal that had to do with a certain state and then make the cake to go with it!)
Overall, I would buy this for cookbook collection because it is so much fun! I enjoyed reading a lot of the facts as well as seeing the recipes! I can’t wait to try a few!
This cookbook does sound like a lot of fun..I wonder what the MN cake would be!?
