After teaching spinning and trim and tone today, we went with Tamara & Mia, and Archna & Aria to Apsara Market. We shopped the small local market for Cambodian fruits, veggies and foods.
We even got a cooking lesson from Amanda, who works there. She showed us what herbs to buy and what to mix to make a simple red curry dish.
There were lots of great fruits and veggies that I had never tried before. I am excited to try lots of the different things.
The freezer section was packed with different meats (many not very appetizing).
When we got back to Tamara’s we split up the different herbs and discussed recipes!
Here is a dish I made tonight. It’s a red curry with bean spouts, bamboo shoots and tofu. Recipe tomorrow.
Have you ever been to a special market or ethnic food store?
We shop international markets all the time. Our favorites are:
Tensuke for Japanese ingredients (Old Henderson Rd and Kenny)
Mediterranean Imports for spices, paneer, feta (High and Dodridge)
Halal markets for goat and lamb (161 and Cleveland Ave area)
Is Apsara in Columbus area?
Thanks so much for letting me know! Apsara is in Columbus, on Harrisburg Pike – just West of downdown off 70. It’s a great spot and the owner is amazing! I am so excited to try your favorite stores!
Thanks for sharing!
