I have great new! I was recently sent a box of great Seventh Generation products for cleaning, and in my case, nesting. And I have a package of great products to send one of you! Thanks to the great people at MyBlogSpark and Seventh Generation!
I used these great products to make my house sparkly clean without all the toxins of most cleaners.
Here is some info from their company:
Leading the “responsible cleaning” charge for the past twenty years, Seventh Generation has tapped into the disinfecting power of the herb thyme, to introduce an EPA registered line of disinfecting sprays and wipes that kill germs* naturally! The new line of botanical disinfectant cleaners includes a multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray and wipes.
The disinfectants contain thymol, a component of the herb thyme, and can be used on hard surfaces including counter tops, plastic cutting boards, highchair trays as well as children´s toys. Best of all, they kill over 99.99 percent of germs* naturally and are effective against the Influenza A Virus, including H1N1.
Seventh Generation has partnered with eco-lifestyle consultant and author, Alexandra Zissu, whose new book, The Conscious Kitchen, discusses what´s good for your health, what´s good for the planet and what tastes great. Her book also includes great tips on maintaining a green and healthy kitchen, including
- Choosing cleaning products without indoor air pollutants like volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, is a simple and effective way to reduce your indoor air pollution. If you´re not prepared to switch everything overnight, start by swapping out the one product you use the most, and moving forward from there.
- Think before you spray
Residues from cleaning products can last on a surface for longer than we we´d like to know and travel to areas that we sometimes don´t intend them to. Don´t contaminate your food by prepping it on a surface that may contain harsh chemical residues – rinse cleaning products from food preparation surfaces carefully or use botanical disinfecting cleaners that do not require a rinse step. - Home is Where the Clean Is
Your standard cleaners are good for removing soils and dirt from kitchen surfaces, but to tackle germs you need a cleaner that is effective against microbes like bacteria and viruses. Many cleaners contain ingredients that have antimicrobial properties such as vinegar or hydrogen peroxide, but the germ killing power of these is not necessarily guaranteed. To be sure you are killing germs, use an EPA registered disinfectant. Seventh Generation tapped into the disinfecting power of the common garden herb thyme, to provide a disinfecting cleaner that kills germs* naturally. - Make the Old New Again
Think twice about the items that you´re using to clean and dry your kitchen equipment and dishes. Use rags (like old t-shirts and washcloths) instead of paper towels. If you aren´t prepared to kick your paper towel addiction just yet, use only recycled versions that are unbleached or haven´t been whitened with chemicals containing chlorine and see how long you can make a roll last. - The Writing is on the … Sponge
Be sure to read the fine print on sponges and only purchase those that do not contain antimicrobial pesticides. Remember to store sponges in a dry place and frequently clean them by popping plastic sponges wet in a microwave for two minutes or boiling sponges for three minutes in water. - Mom Was Right, Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands with soap and water before and after prepping food, and always before eating. So much of what can be potentially harmful in a kitchen can be reduced by this simple act that doesn´t require any harsh chemicals whatsoever.

Hopefully I will have some other news soon…
We clean with a lot of white vinegar
I keep my family safe from chemicals by using products that are green. 🙂 I have used the Clorox Green Works products, but would love to try these! 🙂
Since having a little one in November, I have been much more conscious about what is around my house and what I clean with (when I have the time to clean – haha!). I have been using GreenWorks products, but have been looking for anything that is healthy and safe for my baby to put in her mouth (since she now puts everything in there!). 🙂
What a great giveaway at just the perfect time right?! I actually used to be a bleach freak. Now I make my own cleaners using vinegar and borax with lavender essential oils to make it smell good. I also just use vinegar and hot water for mopping rather than the lysols and bleach products.
I have a 10 month old and try to use all GreenWorks products for daily cleaning. I’m interested in making my own cleaning products, but can never really find the time to actually do it. I’d love to try out the Seventh Generation products!
i would love to learn more about making my own cleaners – but for now I use greenworks products where I can 🙂 I’d love to try these!
I haven’t gotten into the all green cleaners, but I heard a green solution for ants that I put to the test last spring and summer after Kendall really starting exploring. I used vinegar, and set it in small dishes that i could easily slide behind the garbage can, next to the stove and in other nooks and crannies and was proud to announce our house ANT FREE!
I protect my family from chemicals by not using them unless absolutely necessary, and keeping them out of the home or stored safely out of sight 🙂 *Thanks* for the giveaway!
I’m moving into a new apartment in a couple weeks, and one of my goals is to switch to green cleaning products. This would be a perfect way to start!!
I like cleaning with baking soda and vinegar
I’ve had my eye on the 7th generation products–they sound great! I usually just try to use natural cleaners like baking soda, vinegar, etc. Fingers crossed for a baby soon!
I’m actually playing around with making my own products. I have a recipe for laundry detergent that seems to work pretty well, I’m on my second batch. I haven’t perfected the other cleaning products yet, all purpose, carpet, etc.
I keep my family safe by reading labels and purchasing products without harsh chemicals.
Thanks so much for the opportunity! About once a month I’ll pick up a natural cleaning product from my grocery store’s health market! It’s easier this way because the chemical free products are often more expensive!
I don’t think I do the greatest job of having safer cleaning products which is why I’m particularly interested in this contest! I’m looking for new products to try and am searching for good natural products!
I can’t wait for your bigger news to arrive!
Recently I’ve boughten a couple of natural household products, but they are usually a lot more expensive so I can’t buy them too often! I also make sure all of our fruits and veggies get a good scrub!
