You know you have hit motherhood in full swing, when you are at the store and your child tries to grab a box of anything with a giant cartoon character on it and comments like this follow…

“I want the Mickey ones” (not even knowing what it is that she is actually reaching for)

“Mommy, I pease have the one with Elmo” (again, not having a clue of what’s in the box.)

“Oo, Clifford, can I have those”

And you actually consider buying whatever product they want just so you can get back to your grocery list and get out.

I totally understand the advertising technique behind slapping a giant face on a box of food and at some point when I am desperate to get out of the store and in need of a moment of quiet, I am sure I will throw that box into my cart for no other reason except that Dora is plastered on the front of it.

Great. Things to look forward to.

Anna was recently introduced to Uncrustables – the crustless pb+j sandwich that comes pre-packed in an easy to grab individual serving and can save your day. Before now, I didn’t understand the appeal. But in the eyes of a 2 year old, something about a little round sandwich with fun edges is just more delicious than a regular one.

When Cindy whipped out a “whole wheat with pb+ honey” sandwich for Addie and Anna when we were desperately in need of a quick lunch for them on a hot day, I was sold.

The next day, I got out my Pampered Chef sandwich cutter and got busy.

I am thinking the people who make Uncrustables must use this, since it worked perfectly!!

Just make your sandwich with anything you choose and press the sandwich press into it! This time I went with homemade strawberry jam and natural peanut butter. This week I am going to try some:

  • natural pb + honey
  • natural pb + smashed banana (not sure how this will freeze)
  • almond butter and strawberry jam

Doesn’t get cuter than this little guy.

And I kept going until I had finished the loaf.

I threw all of the sandwiches into the freezer to grab and go when we needed them.

A weekend on the boat, soccer game, car trip or errands – they are great!

Now, I need to cut out some pictures of Curious George and glue them to the baggies.
