Recently Anna came down with the worst diaper rash. I know it was directly related to the two pints of cherry tomatoes she ate last week. Her “number 2” as we call it, burned her skin. This is a common problem with lots of babies who eat super acidic foods. It happened once before when Anna ate too many oranges in a short period of time and I have heard it happens with strawberries as well.
So I called my girlfriends Micca and Jen, who I know have had the same problem and they both suggested the same thing — a mixture of Aquaphor and Maylox (the cool mint version). I went to the store and talked to the pharmacist and she said the same thing.
So I got the ingredients.
And mixed them together in a Ziplock bag like I was told.
The mixture was a little watery and slippery but I coated Anna with it and let it do it’s work.
I would have posted before and after pictures but I am thinking that is not quite appropriate. So trust me. If your child has a bad diaper rash from acidic foods, try this.
when my baby gets diaper rashes, i always use zinc oxide cream to treat it.^
