After the stroll through the zoo, we headed over to the farmer’s market! It was a foodie’s dream! Full of fresh produce from local farms. This would be dangerous for me to live close to!
I tried a roasted chestnut for the first time. It was just ok. I think I was expecting it to be better than it was. My mom described it as a warm chickpea with a little more flavor. It did have the same consistency as a chick pea.
The indoor part of the market was full of fun products!
I want to make this! It was so peppery and good!
Fresh wheat grass and other greens that were being juiced on the spot.
We tried the fresh dough balls! They were to die for!
We also purchased some dehydrated pears that we sampled. This is the next thing on our dehydrating list!
And I got some spinach! It was the sweetest spinach I have ever tasted – no aftertaste at all!
Then we made down to the lake path. We walked quickly to get a little workout and to make sure we didn’t upset the fitness fanatics that were sprinting past us! It was soo nice out!
We made headed back home for lunch – after stopping to meet one of Lindsey’s good friends. She was great, but we couldn’t stay long because we had invaded her house during the Michigan game! Lindsey and her friends played soccer for Michigan and are huge fans!
When we got home, we inhaled sandwiches! I made a greens (plus the new, fresh spinach) and tomato sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread. It had hummus and mustard for dressing. I had another half after this!
After lunch, the boys showered, put on their scarlet and gray, and headed to an Ohio State bar down the street. My mom, Linds, Erin (my cousin Brian’s gf) and I showered and headed out to get good use of our 30% off Friends and Family coupon at Gap, Banana, and Old Navy.
After a lot of new clothes were purchased, a lot of beer was drank, and a lot of cheering was done, we met back at home. It would be safe to say neither of us held back on our afternoon activities! 🙂
I loove the Farmer’s Market–that one looks SO big compared to ours–yay for local food!
