Often times at the gym we tend to head over to our favorite machine and do “the usual”. This week, challenge yourself to try a new machine. Have you been on the step mill or stair master lately. It may feel like a blast from the past but it’s a great way to change things and get your butt in gear! Try a hard 20 minute workout climbing stairs followed by another 20 minutes of jogging or ellipticalling.

Here is one option for a workout.

Start with the program on manual.

Time: 25 minutes, and follow these guidelines:

  • 0-1 minutes at level 2
  • 1-2 minutes at level 4
  • 2-3 minutes at level 6
  • 3-4 minutes at level 8
  • 4-5 minutes at level 10
  • 5-6 minutes at level 12
  • 6-7 minutes at level 1
  • 7-8 minutes at level 3
  • 8-9 minutes at level 5
  • 9-10 minutes at level 7
  • 10-11 minutes at level 9
  • 11-12 minutes at level 11
  • 12-13 minutes at level 13
  • 13-20 minutes at level 7
  • 20-21 minutes at 9
  • 21-22 minutes at 11
  • 22-23 minutes at 9
  • 23-24 minutes at 7
  • 24-25 minutes at 5.

Then hop off and head to another cardio machine for another 20 minutes. It will feel like a break but you’ll still be working. Before you know it, you will have 45 solid minutes of cardio done.
