Blistered Tofu

  • 1 T rice vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 t. grated fresh gingerroot
  • 1 T. sesame oil
  • 2 T. light sodium soy sauce
  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu
  1. Press the tofu in a tofu press or wrapped in a dishtowel and set under a few heavy cookbooks for 20-30 minutes or until water is mostly removed.
  2. To make marinade, mix the ingredients in a bowl.
  3. After tofu is pressed, cut the block into thin pieces.
  4. Place pieces of tofu on a sprayed cookie sheet and cover both sides with marinade.
  5. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  6. Bake tofu about 10-15 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and develops a little crust. Flip at least twice to prevent burning.
