We have not been our house too long and are still getting things settled the way we want them. We have moved past the unpacking part of the to-do list and onto the more project-based list. This weekend was no exception. Here are a few stats:
Trips to Lowes – 2
Trip to Home Depot – 1
Trip to Sherwin Williams – 1
Hours spent painting – 3/4
Boards sawed by Brady – 18 – not counting re-cuts
Mirror frame pieces painted – 12
Fort boards replaced in our swing set – 5
Projects we thought we would get to but didn’t this weekend – 2
So one project that was simple to do, but will be life changing for me was the organization of my pots and pans. This project required we put a shelf into our cupboard – so we could turn this mess:
Into this!
Another major project on our list was restoring and sealing our swing-set. We wanted to get this done before the snow. Luckily the 80 degree temps made this project actually enjoyable! Brady rebuilt the fort with new boards to replace boards that were rotting.
Clearly it has been through too many Cleveland winters.
Mid-repair – I did most of the painting while he fixed things.
We also had some help from an OSU cheerleader.
Since she will the one spending the most time on the playground, she really wanted to do her part and help us with fixing it up!
The final product is a stronger, safer and much better looking swing-set! I am glad I won’t have to stare out the window at that chipping red paint all winter!
Other projects on our list included framing all of the mirrors (which is done – pictures to come!) and redoing a guest room closet to resemble one I found on Pinterest!
Brady just loves Pinterest (sarcastic)! Especially my folder labeled “DIY /New House Ideas” AKA work for the weekend! Who needs classes from industrial or interior
design schools We have got this down.
Nice work! You had a very productive week-end! Hope you had fun too!
