How cool would it be to own your own restaurant?! I would LOVE it! You get to create the menu, the style, the flavors, the feel of the place and people get to enjoy it! The downsides would be obviously, the tough hours, the hard work and big decisions you would always have to be making.

I was so lucky to get a chance to preview a new restaurant that is opening in Chautauqua this week. The Sweet Spot is offering wholesome lunch choices as well as specialty baked goods and treats for breakfast and fun! The owners are set on using the best ingredients they can find to make their food real and good for you. (I love this!) Here is a glimpse:

When you walk in the door, you are greeted with bright, vibrant colors that can’t help but make you smile. 🙂

Display cases will be filled with fresh, homemade cheesecakes, cookies, cupcakes, and sweets.

While I was there they were working on creating the menu and had a few ideas written down.

A special room for showers and private parties is off of the main seating and near the gift sections. This room was an old county document vault that was redone in a way that kept the integrity and charm of the structure.

Next to the private room there is an area of gifts. This gift room is filled with adorable things for your baby, home, or kitchen. The stuff is original and adorable!

Then I got to check out my favorite part: the kitchen.

It was pristine. I was amazed at how many food service rules there are and how much work it takes to follow each of them. The owners of the restaurant did an excellent job with this and it was so interesting to learn about!

My dream fridge.

Behind the main kitchen is the special baking room.

How cool is this!?

After all of the touring, we needed a snack. Luckily we were in the right place. They were making some of their tri-color couscous salad.

And happened to have a few bites to spare.

I have had a lot of couscous in my day and I will say that this was one of the best salads I have ever had. If I lived in Chautauqua, I would pick this up for dinner or lunch all of the time!

We also sampled the 5-bean salad. I was not sure what to expect because usually I find bean salad to be too sweet and fake tasting. This was not the case at all. The bean salad tasted fresh, flavorful and healthy. It was light with a little tang and some crunch from the pickled onions. So good.

I think The Sweet Spot will be super successful and I am looking forward to going back! Let me know if you are headed to south-western NY anytime soon!
