Today was the first day back to school after a 5 day weekend!  With two snow days last week added onto the 3 day weekend, we had quite the break!  It was awesome!  My kids (third graders) were sleepy and out of it this morning after having no routine and structure for almost a week!  Don’t worry, I woke them right up!

We played catch-up for the beginning of the day and then stopped to witness and discuss history around noon.  I have a Smartboard in my classroom (the most amazing invention ever, a interactive/computer white board) so I was able to show the whole Inauguration on it!  The kids were more into it than I may have thought. I figured we could stop discussing main idea/supporting details and synonyms/antonyms for an afternoon to witness this event.  I was really impressed by their discussion questions and comments following.  We even wrote letters to Malia and Sasha!

After diving in to school and the Inauguration, I felt the need to dive into my workout!  I was a tired after school but pushed myself to go right to the gym, despite my urge to snack.

Today’s workout:

  • 40 min. hill running intervals/hill walking on the treadmill
  • 15 min. on the step mill
  • 5 min. cooldown on the elliptical

Tomorrow I am planning on working arms and abs with light cardio, hopefully at 5:30am!

After a really sweaty workout and a quick shower, I dove into a delicious dinner!  Last night I marinated/seasoned some salmon and popped it into the broiler with asparagus tonight.  I also whipped up some barley and mixed it with lentils.  It was a great meal!
